Cameron
When Cameron took the hospital exit off the highway, Monique started making sly remarks about Keisha being present at the hospital and then asked Cameron why he was taking her back to the hospital. Cameron continued to drive. He hadn’t said more than ten words to Monique the entire ride from her parents’ house. He was trying to figure out how to break the news to Monique about their son, but the tail end of his partner’s truck turning off Monique’s parents’ street continued to interrupt his thoughts.
Monique looked at Cameron. Why the fuck is he acting weird now? He wasn’t acting this strange before his gangster-ass baby mama was up in the hospital. Monique looked at Cameron. It looks like he needs moral support from his wife. “Well, I bathed, fed and put our son to sleep before I left him. He sleeps through the night, so I’m here for you, baby.” Monique reached for Cameron’s hand.
Cameron steamed with anger. Why this bitch sitting right here lying in my face when the fuck I already know she been with my homeboy! Cameron shot Monique a look that could kill as he took his hand from hers.
“Why are you looking at me like that? What’s going on?” Monique hunched over.
“Monique, our son isn’t at your parents’ house; Tiger is.” Cameron looked Monique in her eyes. “Our son is in the hospital, and had you bathed him like you said you did tonight, you would have known that shit instead of creeping around with my homeboy!” Cameron punched the steering wheel as a tension reliever.
Monique eyes bulged out in horror. “Wait, what, what are you talking about, Cameron? Our son is at my parents’ house. I just left him.” The part about Monique being with his homeboy flew over her head. She was plagued with confusion about her baby.
Cameron pulled into the hospital parking structure. “Tiger doesn’t have a birthmark on his thigh, Nique. Our son does.” Cameron felt for Monique, but was disgusted with her at the same time. She was proving to be sneaky, a cheater and liar.
Delirious, Monique continued to reject the information, crying in denial. “No, Cam, no! This can’t be true! Why are you saying this to hurt me?” Monique hoped Cameron was playing an awful game on her, but the expression on his face confirmed that he was telling her the truth. Devastated, Monique opened the car door and then darted toward the hospital.
Cameron parked. He knew there wouldn’t be any good way of breaking the news to Monique and that the outcome would be dramatic. After Cameron parked the car, he hurried after Monique. On his way inside he called Dime. He needed answers.
“’Sup, loc?” Dime answered.
“Where you and my wife go after y’all left the hospital earlier, cuh?”
Dime replied, “I took her to her parents’ house, loc. Why, what’s up?”
“Cuh.” Cameron’s eyebrows and nostrils flared up. “Nigga, why you lying, cuh? You fucking my wife, homie?”
“Hell naw, nigga! Who told you that?” Dime replied in a shocked manner.
